Schools Shape Cities: Why Education Matters to Real Estate

April 16 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

ULI Indiana – April Breakfast
Schools Shape Cities: Why Education Matters to Real Estate

Education policy and school performance are increasingly shaping where and how communities grow. Join ULI Indiana for a timely, fact-based conversation exploring the intersection of schools, housing, and real estate development across Central Indiana.

This program is intentionally designed to stay data-driven and non-advocacy focused, helping real estate professionals better understand how education trends and policy decisions influence market dynamics, site selection, and long-term community investment.

The program will begin with a data and policy overview from leading experts, followed by a developer reaction panel examining real-world implications for projects and communities.

Program Format

Data & Policy Briefing

  • Jerome McKibben – education policy and legislative landscape
  • Sam Snideman (United Way) – school performance, housing patterns, and community data

Each will provide a 10–15 minute presentation to ground the conversation in facts and trends.

Development Reaction Panel

  • Joe White (JBH Ventures)
  • Fred Yeakey (2 Thirty Eight Properties)
  • Sarah Hempstead (Schmidt Associates)

Panelists will respond to the data and discuss how education factors are influencing development decisions, project feasibility, and community outcomes.

Moderator

  • Taylor Hughes, Indy Chamber

Whether you work in development, brokerage, planning, or public policy, this session will provide valuable insight into why education is increasingly a critical variable in the future of the built environment.
