We make it a point to be wrapped up by 1pm so that you can get on with your day. \nOur speaker this month is Indianapolis City-County Councilor Maggie Lewis. An Indiana State University alum Maggie A. Lewis earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Education and her master’s degree in public administration after graduating from Columbus East High School. Since graduating from Indiana State\, she has dedicated her career to serving the public and those in need. \nLewis served as president of the Indianapolis City-County Council for six years and is the first woman in Council history to hold this position. During her tenure on the council\, she continued to make history\, becoming the first woman elected to serve as majority leader. Most recently\, she wrote another chapter in our city’s history books when her colleagues voted to return her to the role of president. \nWhen she’s not serving the Indianapolis community\, Lewis serves as Chief Executive Officer of Boys and Girls Clubs of Indianapolis (BGCI). Prior to joining BGCI\, she worked for a variety of nonprofit agencies\, where she led fundraising efforts and developed collaborative partnerships to expand the organizations’ missions and visions. \nHer organizational involvement includes Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority\, Inc.\, Circle City Chapter of the Links. \nShe is married to Indiana State University alum Leroy Lewis III\, and they are the proud parents of Leroy Lewis IV.
